Learning about Life is core classroom provision for students’ well-being and understanding of the
world around them.

Three traditional subjects are taught in Learning about Life:

  • Personal, Social and Health Education (including Sex and Relationships Education)
  • Religious Education
  • Citizenship

Four key principles or Rs are taught and expected from students in all Learning about Life lessons.  They are:

  • Respect – for yourself, others and the environment.
  • Reflection – on who you are, what others believe and the progress you are making.
  • Responsibility – for your actions, the way you behave and for your community.
  • Resilience – persevere and keep working hard when difficulties arise.

Students’ well-being is also taught as an integral part of the tutor programme under the title of World Class Wellbeing.

It is a non-examined subject.
