MEDICAL WELFARE ASSISTANT - PART TIME, TERM TIME ONLY

Required AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, 23 hours per week (over 3 days Mon – Weds 8.30 am-3.30 pm) term time only.
Pay scale: SLT Grade 4, £16,859-£19,084 fte (pro rata £8,706 - £9,855).

We are looking to appoint a Medical Welfare Assistant to work flexibly in our busy Medical Room at our Secondary Academy in Cuckfield. Ideally the successful candidate will be in possession of a current first aid certificate and have experience of working with young people, however these are not essential as full training will be given if required.

Experience of working in a similar role would be extremely advantageous. The ability to work calmly and under pressure is essential.  A knowledge of current ICT packages is required and previous experience of working in a school environment would be an advantage. We have a strong commitment to developing our staff so you can also expect to engage in a range of training activities.

CATERING ASSISTANT, PART TIME, FIXED TERM

Required FOR SEPTEMBER 2019 (OR ASAP) UNTIL JULY 2020, TERM TIME ONLY

We are looking to appoint a Catering Assistant with a full, clean driving licence to join “Parkes” our in-house Catering department.  This is a part time, term time only, fixed term contract for 17½ hours per week Monday to Friday 11 am–2.30pm daily (3½ hours per day).  The salary scale for this post is WPA Grade 1/2 Point 10, £15,872 per annum pro rata (£6,237 pa actual salary). 

Our catering team prepares food for both the Secondary Academy and our Primary Academy.  Duties involved with this vacancy may include: 

  • Handling/preparing food;
  • Assisting in setting up the service counters for lunch;
  • Serving meals to students and or using the tills;
  • Cleaning duties in the servery, dining halls and kitchen areas. 

The role is mainly based at our Primary Academy in Haywards Heath but the successful candidate will report for duty to the Secondary Academy in Broad Street, Cuckfield daily.  They will help prepare the meals and then drive them over to the Primary Academy where they will serve, clear up and drive back to the Secondary Academy.

VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES 

Warden Park Secondary Academy has an exciting opportunity for volunteers to work with a range of learners who have a learning/additional support need and require a reader/scribe during examinations and to support assessment work.Full training to provide this support to their learners will be provided.  

Volunteers should have a good academic ability, preferably with previous experience working with young people or within education, and appreciate the importance of confidentiality. 

Volunteers will be asked to complete and return a Warden Park Support Staff application form (see below) and also provide the names and full contact details (including email addresses) of two professional referees.  All successful volunteers will also be subject to a Health Assessment. 

Warden Park Secondary Academy is a significantly over-subscribed school demonstrating the high regard with which it is held in the local community.  The vast majority of our students are committed and hard-working and it is in no doubt that this is a very enjoyable place to work.
