LEARNING RESOURCE CENTRE AND STUDENT FUTURES OFFICER 

PART TIME, 25 HOURS PER WEEK

 

We are looking to appoint a Learning Resource Centre and Student Futures Officer to join our evolving LRC which has recently expanded to include Student Futures, Post 16 and careers advice services. This is a new position within our LRC which is being transformed into a learning hub with a wide range of resources available to all students and staff in the development of a collection of mediums that support reading programmes and inquiry learning. 

The successful candidate will have the following essential qualities: 

  • a good standard of general education;
  • the ability to work calmly and often under pressure;
  • a solid knowledge of information literacy, information skills and their links with learning and with an LRC;
  • excellent ICT skills including Office Suite and Information Management Systems;
  • outstanding planning and organisational skills;
  • effective online search skills and the use of online tools;
  • excellent oral and written communication skills with a variety of people and age groups.

Ideally this is a Monday to Friday, 5 hours per day, term time only position.

VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES 

Warden Park Secondary Academy has an exciting opportunity for volunteers to work with a range of learners who have a learning/additional support need and require a reader/scribe during examinations and to support assessment work.Full training to provide this support to their learners will be provided.  

Volunteers should have a good academic ability, preferably with previous experience working with young people or within education, and appreciate the importance of confidentiality. 

Volunteers will be asked to complete and return a Warden Park Support Staff application form (see below) and also provide the names and full contact details (including email addresses) of two professional referees.  All successful volunteers will also be subject to a Health Assessment.
