WARDEN PARK Young Enterprise team wins BIG!

PICKING UP three awards at Sussex, Brighton & Hove showcase event

Students from Warden Park attended a showcase event yesterday where they presented the company’s journey. During the afternoon at BHASVIC school in Brighton, the team of 13 students from year 9 and 10 exhibited their phone grips and DVD clocks, presented a summary of their journey in front of an audience and answered questions from a panel of judges.
Pops n Clox were standout winners, beating three BHASVIC companies and other local schools to win the Best Company award. They also won an award for Teamwork and a finalists’ trophy. The company is now required to submit a video and report to enter the South East regional awards.

Dance Show 2022

Wow what an amazing performance year 7-11 dancers put on at Hurstpierpoint College theatre.  Outstanding work choreographed mainly by the dancers. I am so proud of all the dancers that took part (over 100 students), I have received several compliments on how fantastic they all are.
I would like to thank all the students, parents and staff who came to watch the spectacular performance. I am already looking forward to planning the show for next year.
A video of the dance show will shortly be released. More details to follow soon.

From the Friends

Thank you to everyone who supported the Spring Fair last Saturday afternoon. The weather was perfect, and there was a wide range of stalls, food and drink to visit.  We really appreciate the parents who supported us by baking the cakes, helping us sell and take in the Bags donated for the Bags2School or came for a wander and made the Fair the success it was.  Friends were able to raise £480 on the day.
300 Club tickets.  You can help to raise funds for the school in a fun way via the 300 Club.  It is called this as there are a maximum of 300 tickets available to be purchased at £20 each.  These tickets give you access to 12 monthly draws where you can win a cash prize. The more active tickets, the higher the potential prize pot, and the more Friends will raise.  Tickets can be purchased on the ParentPay website

Careers Cafe's are up and running again!

Now that we can welcome visitors back into the Academy we have been able to offer our students in Yrs 8, 9 and 10 the opportunity to attend Careers talks in a range of Industry sectors. So far we have been lucky enough to have volunteers come in to tell students all about the world of work as an Entrepreneur, within the Law Industry and the many roles within the British Army.
Many students signed up to these talks and have also signed up to the remaining ones this term uncovering information and routes in to Veterinary, Aviation, Human Resources and the Police Force.
A new selection of Careers Cafe's will be revealed for the Autumn term so keep your eyes peeled for the Google Form from me.

GCSE Dance News

What a busy few weeks it has been in the dance department.  Year 11 practical exams have been in full swing since the start of the term. What an impressive start to the term, after months of hard work both in lesson and outside of the classroom students have now completed 60% of their GCSE.

Well done to all the dancers in year 11 and to all the other years who have been in choreographies supporting year 11. I  wish all the Year 11 dancers the best in their upcoming exams. Keep up the good work and keep dancing!

Year 10’s are now starting their solo choreography practice ready to go into year 11. Year 9’s are now starting to learn street dance to support one of our professional works studied, Emancipation of Expressionism.

Further gym success for Max

The South East team came third place amongst all regions of the UK and Max proudly accepted the award on behalf of all the South East.

out of school success

Erin W (99M) competed with BPM Dance Academy at the National Street Dance Championships annual weekend event at Camber Sands during the Easter holidays.
This is always a tough competition and Erin’s 14 and under age category was one of the largest.
Erin danced her way through 4 heats, 5 callbacks, beat 41 other dancers and took a massively well deserved 2nd place.
Here she is photographed with the professional dancer from “Twist and Pulse".
Well done Erin

Understanding Young People's Mental Health

FREE workshops for parents and carers from West Sussex Mind

West Sussex Mind are running a series of friendly, confidential and relaxed workshops where we will discuss about the challenges to young people's mental health, gain confidence in having conversations about how they are feeling and thinking and explore ways to help your young person with any emotional difficulties.

Is there a Doctor in the house? Attention Years 8, 9, 10 and 11

BrightMed identifies and supports young people from across Sussex who have the potential to become tomorrow’s doctors.
The programme will increase awareness of what it takes to study medicine and healthcare subjects, through fun, inspiring and interactive teaching focused on medicine, health and science.
BrightMed works with students from Year 9 to Year 13. As a ‘BrightMedder’, young people will take part in regular Saturday sessions that involve knowledge sessions, activity days, lectures and seminars. There is also an opportunity to experience life as a student with a stay at the University of Sussex campus during a four-day residential summer school at the end of Year 12.
Every year BrightMed aims to recruit 80 Year 8 students, who will start the programme at the beginning of Year 9. Often we also have spaces in other years and so would encourage applications from those currently in Year 8, 9, 10 or 11.

Summer holiday sports courses now live!

For the current years 7, 8 and 9 if you book 1 day you get the 2nd half price, if you book 2 days you get the 3rd day free.
