Warden Park takes the Treble: sussex netball champions in years 7, 9 and 11
Year 7
What a great first year of netball at Warden Park for the Year 7’s. They have won their side of the draw in the Year 7 netball league, won the North & Mid Sussex area tournament & represented Mid Sussex at the Sussex Schools Games achieving third place. On Wednesday 6th April, they again represented Mid Sussex at the Sussex State Schools Finals. Warden Park played Cardinal Newman. Although Warden Park maintained the lead throughout the game, it had a nail biting finish as Cardinal Newman pulled the game back to one goal. With a couple of minutes left of the game, Captain EO rallied the team & Warden Park won 24-23 to become the Sussex State School Champions! Congratulations to the whole squad of players; it was a real team performance & a well deserved win. I am so proud of everything the team has achieved this year. Well done!
Year 9
So proud of our Year 9 netball team who dominated the final yesterday Vs Cardinal Newman from start to finish. The U14s took early control turning over centre pass after centre pass winning the first quarter 13-2 with outstanding shooting from SJ and APG. The momentum continued with a change in positions with some particularly strong interceptions by EM in centre court with the team finishing the half 24-5 up. With fresh legs brought on each quarter the girls were able to further extend this lead with excellent defence from AB, GC and SR to start the final quarter 33-8 up. With a target of finishing the game with 40 goals MB came on to shoot fantastically well in the strong winds and supported by great feeds into the D by AG the girls deservedly took the title of Sussex State School Champions winning 44-10! So proud of the phenomenal squad effort and looking forward to continued success in Year 10!
Year 11
In their final match of their time at Warden Park, the year 11 girls did not disappoint! The girls played against Cardinal Newman, representing Brighton and Hove. They started the match with a huge lead, with some fantastic shooting by PA and LC. We managed to shut down and turnover their centre passes restricting their ability to score, there were some fantastic interceptions from our centre court and defence, in particular OC was exceptional in creating a turnover ball. They played with fantastic enthusiasm, support and encouragement for one another. They won the game 33 - 13 taking the title of State School Sussex Champions!!
As their coach for the past 4 years it has been a privilege to watch them develop in not just their netball ability, but into absolutely incredible students. I am incredibly proud to have been their coach and wish them all the best in whatever direction they take on leaving Warden Park!

out of school success
Earlier this month Thomas Henderson (Year 9) and his gymnastics partner Jules H (Year 7) enjoyed great success at the national qualifier acrobatic gymnastics competition. After over two years of not competing, they won silver (in their IDP category) and are successfully through to the inter-regional finals at the end of April representing the SE England.
Congratulations to you both.
STEM news
STEM club teamed up with the gardening club this week to begin construction on a bug hotel for the community garden! Both clubs worked together to move some pallets and then start to fill it with twigs and bits of plant pot.
Hopefully this will make a safe hideaway for wildlife and promote some more biodiversity in the garden.

more success for our equestrians!
A huge well done to our Equestrian squad who won their showjumping with style points class this week at Felbridge Equestrian Centre. For this competition the team not only have to jump clear but also have to maintain a good position and demonstrate excellent rhythm, balance and communication with the horse as they jump the course.
This win qualifies the squad for the National Championship later in the year. Congratulations to Ella, Phoebe and Imogen on their success.
SPRING CONCERT
Sussex School Games - Year 7 Netball finals
Congratulations to the Year 7 netball team who represented Mid Sussex in the Sussex Schools netball finals on Thursday 31st March at the University of Brighton. The team played in a round robin competition against Davisons (Southern), Hazelwick (Crawley), The Weald (Central), Seaford Head (South Downs), Ark Alexandra (Hastings & Rother) & The Regis (West Sussex West).
Despite some very cold weather and some adverse weather conditions including hail & snow; the squad finished in 3rd position.
Well done.

motor neurone bake sale
Last Saturday, Madison (Year 8) and her sister hosted a bake sale outside their house to raise money for Motor Neurone Disease Association as it is a charity very close to their hearts. Their target was to raise £200 but they ended up raising just over £1000 which is absolutely incredible!
They are very grateful for all of the generosity shown by their neighbours and friends. The Year 8 team are exceptionally proud of their achievement and entrepreneurship shown. Madison and the Year 8 team are hopeful this will inspire others to raise money for charities close to them.

For students who are self isolating:
When students are self isolating and feeling well, it is important that they keep up with their learning. For most lessons teachers will ask students to join a Google meet. These Google meets will take place at the same time as the timetabled lesson. Students should check their subject Google classrooms to find out details of the Google meets and the work that has been set by the teacher. There is advice on how to join a Google meet through Google classroom on this link. If students are struggling to join the Google Meet, or have questions about the work, it is important that they let their teacher know.
