Closure during the Course of the Day: FOR ACTION PLEASE

With a school of 1500 students, it is important to ensure their safe dismissal if the decision to close the school has to be made once the day has begun. If you have not done so, it is important that you complete the form at click here as this information will inform our strategy and planning in these circumstances.  Please ensure that you complete one form for each of your children.

It is not possible to ensure children’s safety if parents arrive on site to take their child home without some control by ourselves. We therefore ask you to refrain from coming to the school unless invited to do so via our email system or updates on our web site.

Closure at the start of the day: FOR INFORMATION

Snowfall: If there is a heavy snowfall overnight making the access to school, roads and the site unsafe we will post details of our arrangements on our website by 7 am.   We will also use our Twitter account to update you.  Please follow @wardenpark.

We believe an early notice is beneficial for many who travel long distances to school but does mean that we may be caught out by unexpected thaws! We monitor weather forecasts very carefully, take soundings from members of staff local to the school and speak with other Headteachers in order to try and make the right decision as early as possible.

Please do not rely on emails or local radio for announcements, although of course we will use both these methods of communication too.

Heating: Schools cannot open without heating and/or hot water. Clearly this will be an unforeseen eventuality, i.e. breakdown of boilers. In this case we will send out a message via our school email service.  Again, our website and Twitter account will be updated.

Other unforeseen eventualities: We will communicate via email, along with updates on our website and Twitter account.

Any help and support you can give us by disseminating closure notices to other parents would be greatly appreciated

If you are not on our system for emails please reconsider, or if you have changed your details, please let us know by contacting the office.

Thank you for your co-operation.
