  • CAtering assistant



We are looking to appoint a general Catering Assistant with effect from October 2019 until July 2020 to join “Parkes”, our in-house Catering department.  Our catering team prepares food for both our Secondary and Primary Academies.  The role is based in our Secondary School in Broad Street, Cuckfield.

This is a part time, term time only fixed term contract for 22.5 hours per week Monday to Friday 9.45pm–2.15pm daily (4½ hours per day).  The salary scale for this post is WPAT Grade 1/2 Point 10 £15,872 fte and the hourly rate is currently £8.23 per hour (pay award pending). Actual pro rata salary per annum will be £8,018.50).

Duties involved with this vacancy may include:

Handling/preparing food;

  • Assisting in setting up the service counters for lunch;
  • Serving meals to students and or using the tills;
  • Cleaning duties in the servery, dining halls and kitchen areas.

Previous experience of working in a similar role is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.

Warden Park Secondary Academy has an exciting opportunity for volunteers to work with a range of learners who have a learning/additional support need and require a reader/scribe during examinations and to support assessment work.Full training to provide this support to their learners will be provided.  

Volunteers should have a good academic ability, preferably with previous experience working with young people or within education, and appreciate the importance of confidentiality. 

Volunteers will be asked to complete and return a Warden Park Support Staff application form (see below) and also provide the names and full contact details (including email addresses) of two professional referees.  All successful volunteers will also be subject to a Health Assessment.
