WARDEN PARK SECONDARY ACADEMY SAFEGUARDING STATEMENT 2022/23

 

Our approach to safeguarding is tightly aligned to both legislation and government guidance, in particular: 

  • Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018
  • Keeping Children Safe in Education 2021
  • The Prevent Duty 2015

Our prioritises in working with children are:  

  • Protecting children from maltreatment
  • Preventing impairment of children’s health or development
  • Ensuring that children are growing up in circumstances consistent with the provision of safe and effective care
  • Taking action to enable all children and young people to have the best outcome

Safeguarding covers a broad range of the Academies operation including aspects such as  child protection, health care plans, health and safety, site security, safety on school trips and anti-bullying work.  

The Academy has a team of trained safeguarding leads overseen by Mr Sorrell, Deputy Headteacher who is the Academy’s Designated Safeguarding Lead. Additional members of the team are: Mr Kenrick (Headteacher), Mr Atwell (Assistant Headteacher), Ms Wheeler (Assistant Headteacher), Mrs Hale (Attendance & Welfare Officer), Mr Thomas (Head of Digital Services) and Mr Kelly (Assistant Headteacher).  

The Academy has an extensive suite of policies which underpin our safeguarding work and are reviewed regularly. These are:

  • Whistleblowing

All Academy staff receive annual Child Protection and Safeguarding update training and other, more specific training, at various points throughout the year. They are all aware of the procedures for passing on concerns within the Academy. If any members of the school or local community have concerns about the welfare of a child in the Academy, please pass them on to the Designated Safeguarding Team.
