independent study/HOMEWORK

At Warden Park, we firmly believe that homework is an integral part of the learning journey. It provides our students with invaluable opportunities to consolidate knowledge, hone skills, and prepare effectively for upcoming lessons and assessments. Homework is set regularly across all subjects, and you'll find more detailed information below, including our guidelines on frequency.

  • Extended Pieces: Occasionally, an extended piece of homework may span two or three homework slots. In such instances, clear interim deadlines will always be provided to help students manage their time effectively.

  • Assessment and Feedback: The follow-up to homework can take various forms, including instant feedback through online platforms, teacher assessment, peer assessment, or self-assessment. Teachers will provide clear success criteria to guide students in reviewing their work.

  • Submission Deadlines: To allow ample time for completion, staff will always ensure a minimum of two evenings between setting homework and its submission deadline.

  • Accessing Homework: All independent study tasks will be entered onto 'Go 4 Schools'. Both students and parents can conveniently access homework details and deadlines through this platform.

  • Concerns About Homework: If you have any concerns that your child might be struggling to keep up with their homework, please contact the relevant class teacher or your child's tutor in the first instance.

  • Late Submissions: Should your child be unable to meet a homework deadline, please inform the relevant teacher beforehand, providing the reason for the late submission and the new expected hand-in date. Please note, this should only occur in exceptional circumstances.

  • Missed homework deadlines: should your child fail to meet a homework deadline they will receive a ‘yellow’ behaviour log. Repeated failure to complete homework will affect a students’ character for learning score and might lead them to be detained after school in order to complete the homework.
