CAREERS EDUCATION, INFORMATION, ADVICE AND GUIDANCE (CEIAG)?
At Warden Park, our Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) programme plays a vital role in preparing our students for the opportunities, challenges and responsibilities of life beyond school. Through real-world experiences and expert guidance, we equip our young people with the knowledge, skills and confidence to make informed decisions and manage key transitions as both learners and future employees.
We are committed to delivering a CEIAG programme that reflects current best practice and fully aligns with national guidance. It is essential that all students aged 11–16 receive a high-quality careers education that supports them in making informed and ambitious choices for their futures.
Our Approach to CEIAG
Careers education at Warden Park begins in Year 7 and continues through to Year 11. It is designed to help students:
-
Develop a strong sense of self-awareness, understanding their interests, strengths and areas for growth
-
Explore a wide range of post-16 options including colleges, sixth forms, apprenticeships and universities
-
Learn about the world of work, the qualifications required and the various pathways into different careers
-
Build essential employability skills and develop confidence for the workplace
-
Make realistic yet ambitious choices about their futures
-
Create effective CVs and applications for employment, apprenticeships or further study
-
Prepare for and succeed in interviews
Our programme is delivered through dedicated lessons, enrichment activities, themed events and inspiring guest speakers. In addition, every student has access to a fully qualified Personal Adviser for impartial, one-to-one guidance regarding future plans and decisions.
Raising Aspirations
We work closely with a wide range of external partners – including colleges, training providers, local businesses, apprenticeship organisations and universities – to raise aspirations, challenge stereotypes and ensure every student is encouraged to consider a broad range of career opportunities.
To support this, we have developed the Student Futures Portal, which is a central hub containing up-to-date information about colleges, course options, apprenticeships, work experience, careers and local events.
