Warden Park Secondary Academy

The Best From All

OUR TEACHERS WHO HAVE TRAINED AT WARDEN PARK

Excellence in English

When did you start working at Warden Park Secondary Academy?

I started working at Warden Park in 2021 as a teaching assistant. I underwent my training the following year (with Warden Park as my main placement), and started as an English teacher in 2023.

What is your role at Warden Park Secondary Academy?

I am an English teacher and Form Tutor.

What do you remember about how you were supported by the mentoring and induction programme at Warden Park Secondary Academy?

My department was incredibly supportive, always offering resources, advice and encouragement. I instantly was treated as a colleague and was in no way overlooked or treated as ‘just the trainee’. Similarly, the induction support I received from the Professional Tutor was incredible, as she not only guided us through our training but prioritised supporting our wellbeing during the process.

Why should someone choose to train to be a teacher at Warden Park Secondary Academy?

All members of staff are incredibly welcoming and willing to help you with anything, be it navigating the school or how to use the photocopier. The support and understanding from those facilitating training and senior leadership is fantastic.

TRAIN TO TEACH AT WARDEN PARK SECONDARY ACADEMY

We support Sussex University's PGCE by hosting trainee teachers in a variety of subjects across both placementperiods.

Our School Choice (formerly known as School Direct) partners are BOSCO Teaching School Alliance, The University of Sussex and Teach South East.

With School Choice, prospective trainees apply to the school they would like to train in and that school (along with the BOSCO/the University) considers their application.  If successful, this leads to a School Choice place.  As the host school, and therefore main placement, is known in advance there will be opportunities for the trainee to engage with and form a relationship with that school ahead of their training.

To find out more and apply for a School Choice place, please visit the BOSCO site.

If you have any questions about School Choice, please contact Nikki Simmons nsimmons@wardenpark.co.uk
