SOME OF OUR TEACHERS WHO HAVE TRAINED AT WARDEN PARK
Mr Langman
ECT to Deputy Curriculum Lead for English and pedagogical excellence.
When did you start working at Warden Park Secondary Academy?
I joined Warden Park in September 2022.
What is your role at Warden Park Secondary Academy?
I am an English Teacher and a Form Tutor. I have also overseen a class of Y11 Ingenium students who studied GCSE Statistics, Astronomy and Psychology in small subject groups.
What do you remember about how you were supported by the mentoring and induction programme at Warden Park Secondary Academy?
During my time as an ECT, I was mentored by two outstanding English teachers, both of whom used principles from instructional coaching to give me timely and tailored feedback, helping me to keep getting better over the course of the two years. Outside of the English department, I was thoroughly inducted through a holistic range of training sessions coordinated by the school's excellent Professional Tutors. These sessions covered everything from how to use the school’s behaviour policy to teaching character and enhancing my use of retrieval practice. Finally, I was given 24/7 access to the Ambition Institute's Steplab platform, which provided a whole host of structured support and resources.
Why should someone choose to train to be a teacher at Warden Park Secondary Academy?
The school is incredibly well organised, which creates a clear sense of calm and purpose across the site; put simply, this enables teachers to teach. You are also given a licence to experiment in your practice, are robustly supported if issues ever arise and are made to feel, from day one, that your voice is valued, regardless of experience.

TRAIN TO TEACH WITH US
We are proud to support the University of Sussex's PGCE programme by hosting trainee teachers in a variety of subjects across both placement periods. This provides invaluable opportunities for aspiring educators to gain practical experience in a dynamic school environment.
SCHOOL DIRECT/SCHOOL CHOICE PLACEMENTS 🏫
Our School Choice and School Direct partners are BOSCO Teaching School Alliance, the University of Sussex, and Teach South East.
The School Choice/School Direct programme allows prospective trainees to apply directly to the school where they wish to train. The application is then considered jointly by the chosen school, BOSCO, and the University of Sussex.

If successful, this leads to a School Direct/School Choice place. A significant advantage of this route is that your main placement school is known in advance. This provides unique opportunities to engage with the school and build relationships with staff and pupils even before your training officially begins.
